Colorado Air and Space Port was the site of Reaction Engines Inc.'s (REI) successful completion of the Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) campaign of Reaction’s revolutionary engine precooler heat exchanger at its high-temperature test facility.

First announced in July 2022, the FCT test program was conducted in partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and was aligned with the Air Force FCT goal to assess maturing technologies that could meet defense needs.

Jeff Kloska, Director of Colorado Air and Space Port (CASP), was elected last week to the Board of Directors of the Northwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (NWAAAE) for 2022-2023.

Dawn Aerospace, a Netherlands-, New Zealand-and U.S.-based space transportation company, has been selected by Blue Canyon Technologies to provide turnkey chemical propulsion systems for the X-SAT Saturn satellite bus. Dawn Aerospace is an Adams County partner with Colorado Air and Space Port (CASP).

Reaction Engines announced today it is completing the placement of additional ground support equipment at its High Temperature Airflow Test Facility (TF2) at Colorado Air and Space Port in Adams County. The additional modifications to the Reaction Engines test facility will support expanded test envelopes of its revolutionary heat exchanger technology and thermal management solutions that are critical to aerospace, defense, energy, and transportation industries.

CASP leaders were excited to welcome our partners from New Zealand-based Dawn Aerospace on Friday, April 8. Co-founder and CRO Jeroen Wink and U.S. Sales Director Joshua Rea toured the property and visited with Reaction Engines during a break in their testing.

Dawn is developing a horizontal-launch, reusable space plane and plans to operate out of CASP later this decade. 

Jeff Kloska has been named Director of Colorado Air and Space Port. Kloska will begin Monday, January 10.

“Jeff has an extensive background in aviation and business management, which makes him an excellent choice for this position,” said Alisha Reis, Interim County Manager. “There’s so much potential at  Colorado Air and Space Port and we’re excited to have someone with Jeff’s experience help shape its future.”

Colorado Air and Space Port is getting some air time on CBS 4 Denver today as the channel featured CASP's international partnerships with the U.K.'s Reaction Engines, Japan's PD AeroSpace, and Dawn Aerospace in New Zealand. Space Port Director Dave Ruppel is interviewed along with Adam Dissel, President of Reaction Engines.

PD AeroSpace, LTD. (PDAS) and Colorado Air and Space Port (CASP) have entered into an MOU, which lays out a series of future interactions that are mutually expected to occur between the two entities, but are not legally binding. Future actions include PDAS establishing a United States (U.S.) presence at CASP, working with CASP to create a relationship with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and eventually conducting test flights and evaluations.

Colorado Air and Space Port (CASP) is excited to announce its next aerospace partner in New Frontier Aerospace (NFA), a California company with a mission to make rocket-powered transportation usable and practical across several fields, including medical, military, and home delivery. NFA announced its new partnership with CASP in a press release on Sept. 2.
