As part of Colorado Air and Space Port's (CASP) 40th anniversary celebration, join us for a Fly-In event on Saturday, April 27, 8-11 a.m., at the CASP terminal, 5200 Front Range Pkwy., Watkins.

Chow down on some good ol' pancakes, mingle with community members, and see some beautiful airplanes while enjoying fuel discounts during the event. Activities include:

Colorado Ninety-Nines Chapter Breakfast: 8-11 a.m. with proceeds benefiting flight training scholarships.

Colorado Air and Space Port (CASP) is receiving a $500,000 grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Aeronautics Division to perform pavement rehabilitation work on some of CASP’s most heavily used taxiways and ramp areas. Adams County is providing $55,555 as the local grant match toward the work with a total project cost of $555,555 in a 90/10 partnership.

On Tuesday, March 26, the Adams County Board of Commissioners (BoCC) applauded the grant in Public Hearing.

Colorado Air and Space Port will be holding three fly-in events at 5200 Front Range Parkway in Watkins to celebrate our 40th anniversary.

As part of NASA’s Break the Ice Challenge, the Colorado School of Mines and Lunar Outpost’s team, the Ice Diggers, are testing their lunar excavation rover, the Outpost Digger System (ODS). This rover will be capable of excavating nearly one ton of concrete-hard lunar regolith per Earth day. This durability demonstration test will last 15 days.

Colorado Air and Space Port has secured proper permits and approvals for the Airport Fencing and Security Project, and we wanted to give an update on the project’s timeline and progress.

Phase 1 started in February and focuses on the outside perimeter of the airport. The full project is scheduled to be completed in 180 calendar days, although dates are subject to minor adjustments as the work progresses.

Colorado School of Mines and Lunar Outpost are teaming up to build a lunar excavation rover, the Outpost Digger System (ODS). This rover will be capable of excavating nearly a ton of concrete-hard lunar regolith per Earth day.  Today NASA announced Mines and Lunar Outpost have won an equal share of a $500,000 prize purse for their design as part of their submission to the NASA Break the Ice Challenge.

Colorado Air and Space Port was the site of Reaction Engines Inc.'s (REI) successful completion of the Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) campaign of Reaction’s revolutionary engine precooler heat exchanger at its high-temperature test facility.

First announced in July 2022, the FCT test program was conducted in partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and was aligned with the Air Force FCT goal to assess maturing technologies that could meet defense needs.

Jeff Kloska, Director of Colorado Air and Space Port (CASP), was elected last week to the Board of Directors of the Northwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (NWAAAE) for 2022-2023.

Dawn Aerospace, a Netherlands-, New Zealand-and U.S.-based space transportation company, has been selected by Blue Canyon Technologies to provide turnkey chemical propulsion systems for the X-SAT Saturn satellite bus. Dawn Aerospace is an Adams County partner with Colorado Air and Space Port (CASP).
