Airspace procedures between DEN and KCFO are in place because the KCFO ATCT has management oversight by FAA Denver TRACON. On an IFR basis KCFO runways are treated as if they were an extension of DEN runways.
KCFO has a cutout in DEN's 10 nm Class B Airspace. The cutout provides VFR traffic with a means of departing KCFO to the east and south without entering Class B restriction. Additionally, DEN's airspace encompasses KCFO with a Class E Airspace, which restricts VFR traffic from operating when meteorological conditions are less than 1 mile and restricts VFR aircraft to 700' agl.
